Search guide

Website design for SEO is mostly decided before the homepage exists.

By the time most businesses think about SEO, the decisions that determine it have already been made: how the site is structured, what each page is for, and how fast it loads on a phone. We operate our own network of local-service websites in competitive markets, so we get to test what actually ranks with our own money. This is what carries over into every client build.

Architecture before aesthetics

A site ranks page by page, and each page ranks for one intent. The single most common mistake we see in redesign audits is one page trying to serve four searches, or four pages competing for the same one. Before we design anything, we map the searches that matter to your business and give each one exactly one home. That map, not the visual design, is the skeleton of the project.

This is also why bolting SEO onto a finished site underperforms. Retrofitting an intent map onto pages that were organized by org chart means rewriting half the site anyway.

The decisions that do the ranking work

  1. 01

    One page, one intent

Every service and every market gets its own page with its own proof. Our local-service sites rank because a person searching for one specific job lands on a page about exactly that job.

  2. 02

    Speed as a design constraint

We design within a performance budget from the first mockup: static rendering where possible, images sized to their containers, no script debt. Speed retrofits cost more than speed discipline.

  3. 03

    Structure machines can read

Clean headings, descriptive internal links, and structured data that describes what is actually on the page. Nothing decorative. Schema that does not match visible content is noise to Google and worse than nothing.

  4. 04

    Proof near the claim

Reviews, credentials, and real project photos placed next to the claims they support. This converts the traffic, and pages that answer completely earn the engagement signals that hold rankings.

What we refuse to promise

No ethical studio guarantees rankings, and nobody credible guarantees AI citations. Search results move for reasons outside anyone's control. What we can control is whether your site is the clearest, fastest, most verifiable answer for the searches you should own. Over time, in our experience running our own sites, that is what compounds.

Questions

Before you reach out.

Is SEO included in a ClientAnchor build or an add-on?

The foundation is included in every build: intent mapping, crawlable structure, metadata, internal linking, structured data, and performance discipline. Ongoing search work, content expansion, and measurement are part of Authority builds and care plans.

How long until a new site ranks?

A new domain typically needs months, not weeks, and competitive terms need authority you build over time. Low-competition local and long-tail terms can move much sooner. Anyone quoting a fixed timeline is guessing on your budget.
