Care guide

Most website maintenance plans are priced on fear. Here is what care should include.

The maintenance retainer is the most quietly resented invoice in this industry: a monthly fee justified by vague words like monitoring and security, billed whether anything happened or not. We sell care plans too, starting at $199 per month, so this is not an argument against maintenance. It is an argument for knowing exactly what you are paying for.

Ask about a care plan

What a care plan should actually contain

Real care has four parts. Updates: software, plugins, and content changes handled promptly by someone who knows the site. Monitoring: uptime and performance checks that catch problems before your customers report them. Improvement: a running queue of small fixes and refinements, shipped monthly, because sites decay by a hundred tiny cuts. And access: a direct line to a person, not a ticket maze.

That last part is most of the value. When the site is your lead engine, what you are really buying is a response time and a person who already has context.

When you do not need a plan

A static site with no forms, no integrations, and rare content changes can sit safely for months untouched. If we build you one and you are comfortable making your own occasional edits, we will hand everything off cleanly and you will own it outright, no strings. Some clients come back for a plan once the site starts producing leads and downtime starts having a price. That is the right time to buy one, not before.

Questions that expose a padded retainer

  1. 01

    What shipped last month?

A real plan has a visible changelog. If the honest answer is nothing, you are paying for standby, and standby should not cost hundreds a month.

  2. 02

    Who owns the accounts?

Hosting, domain, and analytics should be in your name. A provider who holds your accounts hostage has priced in the cost of you leaving.

  3. 03

    What happens if I cancel?

The answer should be a clean handoff and nothing breaks. Month-to-month, no lock-in, is the only defensible structure for care.

Questions

Before you reach out.

What does ClientAnchor's care plan cost and include?

Care starts at $199 per month: managed updates, uptime and performance monitoring, a monthly improvement queue, and direct support without a ticket system. Month to month, cancel anytime, clean handoff if you do.

Can you maintain a website another company built?

Usually, yes. We start with a paid audit of the codebase and hosting so we know what we are taking responsibility for, then quote care honestly based on what we find.
